Haryana Fights for Child Rights: MDD of India Steps Up

Child exploitation takes many forms, and MDD of India, with the backing of the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation, is tackling them head-on in Haryana. Their project targets four key issues:

  • Forced Marriage: Ending the practice of marrying off children before they are legally or emotionally ready.
  • Sexual Abuse: Protecting children from this horrific crime and ensuring justice for victims.
  • Trafficking: Eradicating the exploitation of children for forced labor or other illegal purposes.
  • Child Labor: Safeguarding children from being forced to work instead of attending school and enjoying their childhood.

Beyond Prevention:

This project goes beyond simply preventing these crimes. It also aims to:

  • Strengthen the Law: Make legal recourse easier for victims and their families.
  • Heal the Wounds: Provide mental health support and rehabilitation for those affected.
  • Educate the Protectors: Train law enforcement to better identify and combat child exploitation.

Focused Efforts:

The project concentrates its efforts on ten specific districts in Haryana: Ambala, Jhajjar, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Nuh, Palwal, Panipat, Rewari, Rohtak, and Sonipat.

A National Effort:

NDTV and KSCF Join Forces for “Child Marriage Free India” Campaign.MDD of India’s project aligns with a larger national campaign – “Child Marriage Free India” – led by the Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation. This ambitious initiative aims to dramatically reduce child marriages from the current rate of 23.3% to just 10% by 2025.

Collaboration is Key:

MDD of India believes that by raising public awareness and fostering cooperation among all stakeholders, they can create a lasting impact. Their goal is to build a future where every child in Haryana can grow and develop in a safe and nurturing environment.
